Daress McClung returned to the Butler women's basketball program at the start of the 2016-17 season as the Director of Basketball Operations. The former Bulldog standout was a Second Team All-Atlantic 10 selection as well as a Second Team All-BIG EAST player during her two-year BU career.
Â
"I couldn't be more excited to welcome Daress back to Butler to rejoin our women's basketball program," Head CoachÂ
Kurt Godlevske said. Having coached Daress during the 2013-14 season, I know she's a bright, hard-working, fantastic person that comes from a great family. Daress will be a valuable asset for our young ladies because she knows what it takes to succeed as a student-athlete at Butler and in the BIG EAST Conference. Welcome home Daress!"
Â
McClung played her first two seasons of collegiate basketball at the University of Cincinnati before transferring to Butler. The versatile forward flourished during her first season as a Bulldog in 2012-13 by being recognized as the team MVP. She ended the year as a Second Team All-Atlantic 10 player while leading the team and ranking second in the league with a 16.4 scoring average. McClung nearly averaged a double-double as she also pulled down 9.0 rebounds per contest, ranking fifth in the A-10.
Â
Year two as a Bulldog also went well with McClung earning Second Team All-BIG EAST honors. She averaged 15.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. McClung ended her senior campaign with six double doubles, including a 23-point, 12 rebound performance against UIC.
Â
McClung attempted to continue her basketball career after graduation by signing a pair of professional contracts overseas. She most recently spent time with Al Spar Canaria of Las Palmas, Spain, but her season was cut short due to injury.
Â
After returning to the states in 2015, McClung has been working as an educator proxy and admin assistant for Lawrence North High School. McClung earned her degree in organizational leadership and communications at Butler.
