No. 15 Milwaukee Holds Off Butler 1-0

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Milwaukee's Helen Steinhauser scored in the first half and UWM held off the Butler women's soccer team 1-0 in the semifinal of the Horizon League Women's Soccer Championship. It was only the second time this year a team from the Horizon League has played to within one goal of Milwaukee.

Steinhauser's goal came at 34:22 and Kelsey Holbert assisted on the play. It was her fourth goal of the season.

Statistically, it was one of Butler's finest defensive efforts in recent years against the Panthers. It was the third time in three years BU has held UWM to one goal or less, and it was the second time in six meetings the Bulldogs shut out Milwaukee's All-American Sarah Hagen.

Sophomore Julie Burton made a career-high eight saves for the Dawgs. Butler was credited with six shots, three by freshman Elise Kotsakis, a second team All-Horizon League player.

Butler's final record for 2011 was 8-10-2. Milwaukee advances to play No. 5 seed Wright State in the league championship Sunday, Nov. 6.
