TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Butler swept the men's and women's 3,000 meter steeplechase titles and captured two other individual crowns in a strong distance performance at the Pacesetter Invitational, which wrapped up on Saturday, April 14, at Indiana State.  The Bulldogs placed fourth in both the men's and women's team competitions.

Junior Shelbi Burnett (right) won the women's steeplechase in 10:47.92, while sophomore Craig Jordan captured the men's steeplechase in 8:58.84.  Jordan set a meet record with his effort, topping the previous mark of 9:00.20 set by Matthew Graham of DePaul a year ago.

The Bulldogs also picked up titles from freshman Tom Curr in the men's 1500 (1:50.57) and senior Becky Howarth in the women's 5,000 (17:23.72).  Curr narrowly edged Jeremiah Vaughan of Indiana (1:50.89), while breaking the meet record of 1:51.35 set by Jason Briggs of Indiana State in 2003.

Burnett added to her performance in the steeplechase with a third place finish in the women's 1500, finishing the race in 4:40.79.

Juniors Kirsty Legg and Kaitlyn Love grabbed two of the top five spots in the women's 800 meter run.  Legg finished runner-up in the race in 2:12.99, while Love came in fifth in 2:14.95.  Other top finishes for Butler's women were turned in by freshman Nicole Hudec, who placed fifth in the 100 (12.83), and junior Alyson Fosnot, who came in fifth in the 5000 (17:54.72).  Senior Lauren Haberkorn came in sixth in the 5000 (17:58.56), while sophomore Maddie Cassidy finished sixth in the 400 (1:02.49).

Junior Kevin Oblinger posted a third place finish in the men's steeplechase in 9:19.54, while freshman Harry Ellis finished fifth in the men's 1500 (3:57.73).
