Butler's Baseball Season Ends In Chicago

Box Score

CHICAGO - Junior Jimmy Risi hit his league-leading 12th home run but the Butler baseball team saw its season end with a 19-2 loss to Milwaukee.

Risi hit a bomb over the center-field fence to lead off the top of the 4th inning. By that time, unfortunately, BU trailed 12-0. Freshman Austin Miller doubled and scored in the top of the 9th.

The game turned when UWM scored 10 runs in the 3rd inning. Four Milwaukee batters reached twice in the inning, as the Panthers put up eight hits in the frame. Jonathan Capasso hit a three-run homer and Phil Striggow had a two-run home run.

Capasso tied a Horizon League tourney single-game record with six hits, going 6-for-6 with four RBIs. Luke Meeteer added a 5-for-6 effort with four singles and a two-run homer of his own.

Sophomore Marcos Calderon had two hits for Butler, who finished 22-34 on the year. Junior Chase Byerly and senior Ryan Salvino combined for 3.1 shutout innings of relief.
