Bulldogs Drop Final Road Match of the Season

Box Score

The Butler men's soccer team dropped their final road contest of the season on Saturday at Providence by a score of 3-2. Senior Jordan Burt accounted for two assists in the match.

Sophomore Vincent Mitchell scored his fourth goal of the season to break a scoreless tie in the 15th minute. Burt's pass came from far in front of the box and Mitchell was able to bury it in the far side of the goal.

Providence started the second half with three straight goals. Senior goalkeeper Jon Dawson saved nine Friar shots in 90 minutes of action.

Freshman David Goldsmith notched his 11th goal of the season in the 86th minute with the Bulldogs trailing 3-1. The Bristol, England native scored from the lower left corner of the box and got it past Providence keeper Keasel Broome. The rally would fall short in the last few minutes.

Providence out-shot Butler 24-12 down the stretch and held the advantage in corner kick opportunities by a 16-3 count.

Butler's record now stands at 9-7-1 with one regular season game left to play. Xavier visits the Butler Bowl on Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. Butler's seniors will be recognized that night.
