DAYTON, Ohio - The Butler baseball team pounded out 18 hits - including five doubles - to claim an 8-4 road win at Dayton on Friday.

Senior Radley Haddad had a 4-for-5 day with two doubles to lead the Bulldogs, who led the entire game. Freshman Mike Kseniak went 4-for-4 and juniors Marcos Calderon and Marco Caponi each drove in a pair of runs.

The offensive output by Butler was more than enough support for sophomore lefty Eric Stout. Stout improved to 6-3 on the year by working 7.0 innings, striking out 10 against one walk and allowing three runs. He retired the last six batters he faced, with four by strikeout. Sophomore Kyle Allen worked the final two innings.

Consecutive two-out doubles by Jimmy Risi and Michael Fries got the Bulldogs started. Fries scored on Risi's two-bagger and Patrick Guinane later ripped an RBI single for Butler to lead 2-0 in the 1st inning. Marcos Calderon slapped an RBI double to left to give Butler a 3-0 lead in the 4th inning. 

In the top of the 5th, BU got RBI singles from Haddad and Caponi to extend the lead to 5-0. Dayton recovered three runs in the bottom of the 5th, as the Flyers strung together five straight singles all with two outs. With the lead cut to 5-3, the Dawgs answered with a run in the 6th to lead 6-3.

Senior Lucas Calderon walked and scored in the 7th and Haddad reached on an error and scored in the top of the 9th. 

Dayton was led by Ian Hundley, the leadoff-hitting centerfielder. He went 2-for-4 and scored a run and Ryan Berry added a solo home run that led off the bottom of the 9th.

Butler and Dayton will continue their series Saturday, as Kyle Kramp will start for BU against UD's Noah Buettgen.
