Butler Finishes Third At Green Bay Invitational

GREEN BAY, WIS. -- Juniors Jenna Peters and Isabella Lambert tied for third in the final individual standings and Butler came in third in the team competition in the season-opening Green Bay Invitational.  The 36-hole tournament at the Green Bay Country Club wrapped up on Tuesday (Sept. 10).

Peters and Lambert each shot an opening-round 80 on Monday, and both closed with an even-par 73 in the final round.  Their two-day total of 153 was one stroke behind runner-up Casey MacNiel of Chicago State and five strokes behind individual medalist Jaclyn Schindler of team champ Indianapolis.

Sophomore Nicole Johnson finished in a tie for 13th place with rounds of 77 and 82 (159), while newcomer Megan McCambridge tied for 19th with a final score of 161 (82, 79).  Senior Ali Restaino finished one stroke back and rounded out Butler's scoring team with rounds of 77 and 85.

Newcomer Christie Cates, playing as a non-scoring individual, wound up in a tie for 32nd place with rounds of 83 and 84 (167).

The Bulldogs opened the tournament with a team score of 314 and trailed both Indianapolis (299) and Chicago State (310).  Butler had the best round of the top three squads in the final round with a 307, but still finished one stroke behind Chicago State and four strokes behind Indianapolis.

Butler's women will play their second fall tournament on Sept. 22-23 at the Navy Chesapeake Invitational in Annapolis, Md.
