Broncos Blank Bulldogs 7-0

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Butler women's tennis team took a 7-0 loss at Western Michigan on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs are now 1-2 on the year.

Stephanie McLoughlin and Kailey Eaton played at No. 1 Doubles for BU on Saturday while Angelina Qin and Jocelyn Koester competed at the No. 2 spot. Each team was defeated 6-3.

The final pairing for Butler in doubles competition was Grace Hyde and Sienna Reuter at the No. 3 spot. They were defeated by Meika Ashby and Yuriko Ono 6-0.

All six singles matches ended in straight-sets as Western Michigan earned the sweep. McLoughlin and Eaton took the top two spots vs. WMU while Qin and Hyde were locked in at No. 3-4. McLoughlin lost 6-1, 6-1 and Eaton fell 6-1, 6-2. Qin was defeated 6-2, 6-2 and Hyde suffered a 6-0, 6-3 setback.

Other Bulldogs seeing court time on Saturday included Koester at No. 5 Singles and Reuter at No. 6. Koester lost 6-1, 6-1 and Reuter was defeated 6-1, 6-0.

Butler will return to action with a 10 a.m. match vs. Detroit on Sunday, Feb. 2.
