WEEKEND RECAP: Butler played one match last week, falling 2-1 to No. 10 Creighton in their second consecutive BIG EAST road contest. The Bluejays jumped out to an early lead in the first half when forward Timo Pitter found the net in the 12th minute of play, and took a two-goal lead at the 61-minute mark on another strike from Pitter. With less than ten minutes remaining, junior midfielder Caleb Postlewait scored his third goal of the season to start a late Butler rally attempt. David Goldsmith was credited with the assist on the goal, earning his second on the year. Re-energized, the Bulldogs fell just short in the closing minutes as a header attempt from freshman forward Joey Bastian was saved by the Creighton goalkeeper and a free kick from senior midfielder Zach Steinberger sailed over the crossbar.
The Bluejays hung on the clinch the 2-1 victory, thwarting a Butler attack that finished with eight shots on the day, including three on-goal. Goldsmith and Bastian led the team with two shots and one shot-on-goal apiece, and juniors Jeff Adkins and Vincent Mitchell each added a shot of their own to the Butler total.
