Box Score INDIANAPOLIS -- Loryn Goodwin scored a team-high 18 points and hauled down six rebounds in her Butler debut, but it was not enough as the Bulldogs fell 76-47 to Chattanooga Wednesday night at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
The redshirt-sophomore guard scored 17 of her 18 points in the second half while shooting 2-of-3 from beyond the 3-point line and 6-of-8 from the charity stripe. Goodwin rounded out her 33 minutes of action with three steals and a block.
Blaire Langlois was the second Bulldog to reach double figures as she scored 10 points on 4-of-11 shooting. Langlois hit two triples and grabbed five rebounds while also dishing out three assists. Sydney Buck nearly gave Butler a third player to reach double figures, but she ended the game with nine points off three 3-point field goals.
Chattanooga got off to a hot start, starting the game on a 14-3 run to grab the early advantage. Butler rattled off eight-straight points late in the first half to cut a 26-11 deficit to just 26-19 with under four minutes to go before halftime thanks to a Langlois jumper and two-straight 3-pointers by Buck. The Mocs (2-1) responded with a 9-1 run to conclude the opening frame, taking a 35-20 lead to the locker room.
The second half got underway with an 11-3 Chattanooga run that pushed the score to 46-23. The Bulldogs were never able to fully recover as the Mocs ended the game shooting 50 percent from the field (31-61).
Goodwin returned to the team by coming off the bench, supplying Butler with their first bench points of the season. Points in the paint and points off turnovers heavily favored the Mocs as the team used 11 different players in the victory.
Butler, who played with seven active players, had five players log over 33 minutes of action. Langlois played 38 minutes in the contest, ending her consecutive minutes played streak at 94. The junior had played in every minute of Butler's first two regular season games.
Butler will travel to Connecticut for a 1 p.m. contest against Fairfield on Saturday in its final game before the journeying to Hawaii for the Tom Weston Invitational over Thanksgiving weekend.
