Box Score INDIANAPOLIS -- Butler picked up its first home win of the season on Friday night, beating Wright State 57-49 at Hinkle Fieldhouse. The Bulldogs used a balanced offensive attack to record the victory while Wright State relied on Tay'ler Mingo for offensive production.
Blaire Langlois scored a team-high 18 points and Ijeoma Uchendu grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds for the Bulldogs (2-7). Loryn Goodwin contributed 15 points and six rebounds while Belle Obert added 13 points and seven rebounds in her women's basketball debut at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
Tay'ler Mingo was a driving force for the Raiders as the senior guard led all scorers with 34 points in the loss for the Raiders (4-2). Mingo shot 10-of-23 from the field and 12-of-15 from the charity stripe. She added two 3-point field goals to reach her scoring total.
Butler outshot Wright State from the field in the contest, shooting 41.2 percent (21-for-51) to the Raiders' 22.7 percent (15-for-66). Langlois shot 4-for-6 from 3-point territory as the Bulldogs shot 31.3 percent (5-for-16) as a team from behind the arc.
The Bulldogs were clicking on offense as they recorded 16 team assists off of 21 field goals, with Lexus Murry earning a team-high six assists in the victory. Points in the paint also went to Butler as the Bulldogs won that battle 28-14.
Butler enjoyed a 31-22 lead at the half in part to holding Wright State to just seven made field goals. The 'Dawgs stayed in control early in the second half as a 3-point field goal from Obert moved the score to 34-26 in Butler's favor.
Mingo continued to score in bunches for the Raiders in the final 20 minutes as the combo guard scored the next six points for Wright State to cut the lead to two points (34-32), the closest the game had been since midway through the first half. Butler answered with a 6-2 run that grew the lead to 40-34.
The Raiders would fight back to cut the lead down to just two points at 44-42. The turning point in the game came moments later as Langlois scored 10-straight points for BU, hitting two crucial 3-pointers, to put the Bulldogs ahead 54-47 with less than two minutes remaining in the contest. Butler would hold on to seal the victory, never trailing at any point in the contest.
Butler will return to action on Sunday, Dec. 7 when they travel to Minneapolis for a contest against Big Ten opponent Minnesota. The contest will mark Butler's third game in just five days. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.
