DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. -- Junior Jenna Peters completed a strong championship performance with a five-over-par 77 in the final round and wound up tied for second place at the 2014 BIG EAST Women's Golf Championships presented by NEW YORK LIFE. The 54-hole tournament on the Hills Course at LPGA International wrapped up on Saturday, April 19.
Peters climbed onto the leader board with a 78 in the first round, and she never left the list of top performers. She carded her best round with a two-over-par 74 in the second round and finished with a 54-hole total of 229. Peters was one of five players to tie for the runner-up spot.
Harin Lee of St. John's captured medalist honors with a three-round score of 226. The tournament leader shot back-to-back rounds of 74, before closing with a 78 on the final day.
Senior Ali Restaino came in second for the Bulldogs and tied for 23rd overall with rounds of 83, 81 and 85 (249), while teammate Isabella Lambert tied for 25th place with scores of 83, 81 and 87 (251). Sophomore Nicole Johnson finished 28th after shooting back-to-back rounds of 83 and then closing with an 87 for a three-day score of 253. Freshman Megan McCambridge rounded out Butler's team with rounds of 94, 91 and 84 (269), good for 30th place.
The Bulldogs opened the tournament with a team score of 327, before shooting a 319 in the second round. The squad closed with a 333 for a 54-hole score of 979 and a sixth place finish.
Seton Hall captured the tournament championship with a final score of 928, while Georgetown finished runner-up at 935.
