PEKIN, ILL. - Junior Isabella Lambert posted a "Top 5" individual finish and helped lead Butler to a runner-up finish in the team competition at the Bradley Invitational, which wrapped up on Sunday, April 6. Southern Illinois rallied on the final day of the tournament to edge Butler for the team title.
Lambert shot a 77 in the opening round at the par-72 Pekin Country Club to help the Bulldogs to the first day lead in the 36-hole tournament. She finished the tournament with a one-over-par 73 on Sunday to post a two-day total of 150 and tie for third place in the individual competition. Lambert wound up four stroke behind tournament medalist Kayla Katterhenry of Evansville.
Junior Jenna Peters finished three strokes back in seventh place. She opened the tournament with a team-best 73 on Saturday (April 5) and then posted an 80 on the final day. The Bulldogs also picked up a "Top 15" individual finish from freshman Megan McCambridge, who carded rounds of 79 and 77 (156) and finished in a tie for 13th place.
Sophomore Nicole Johnson tied for 26th with rounds of 77 and 83 (160), while senior Ali Restaino came in 46th with a 36-hole total of 167 (81-86). Sophomore Christine Cates, playing as a non-scoring individual, tied for 47th place with rounds of 81 andc 87 (168).
Butler shot a team total of 306 on the opening day and took a two-stroke lead over Indiana State and a three-stroke advantage over Southern Illinois in the team competition. The Salukis rallied with a 308 on the final day, while Butler shot 313. Indiana State slipped into fourth place, behind Northern Illinois, after shooting 319.
The Bulldogs will play their final tune-up prior to the BIG EAST Championship (April 17-19) when they participate in the 18-hole Big Four Classic at Crooked Stick Country Club on Tuesday, April 8.
