Box Score INDIANAPOLIS – The Bulldogs now have a winning record (10-9) after defeating Georgetown by the final score of 63-58 on Sunday afternoon. Ijeoma Uchendu and Loryn Goodwin once again led the team in scoring, combining for 39 of Butler's 63 points.
After a slow start to the game, the Bulldogs ended the first half on a 20-4 scoring run to take a two-point lead at the half. The Hoyas shot nearly 70% from the field over the first 10 minutes of the game, but the Bulldogs would respond by dominating the final 7:57 minutes to grab the momentum.
The early stages of the second half went back and forth, but a 6-0 run from Butler would give the 'Dawgs some space at 51-45. The Hoyas would never see the lead again as Butler went on to win their sixth-straight conference game of the season.
Ijeoma Uchendu was terrific again on Sunday posting 20 points and a team-high 15 rebounds against the Hoyas. The senior forward went 10-for-12 from the charity stripe as Butler won the free throw battle by attacking the rim.
Goodwin provided Butler with 19 points and six rebounds during 36 minutes of action. The scoring total was rounded out by four different players all contributing with six points each as Sydney Buck, Belle Obert, Lexus Murry and Andriana Moore all chipped in to reach 63 points.
The Bulldogs struggled from the 3-point line on Sunday hitting just four of their 20 attempts. With the long ball not dropping, the 'Dawgs decided to attack the rim which led to the team hitting 23-of-28 from the line.
Georgetown came out in a 3-2 zone at the start of the game that held Butler's offense in check. Adjustments were made as the game went along and Butler was able to find success by penetrating the gaps and throwing the ball to the post.
