INDIANAPOLIS – Butler was narrowly defeated by SIUE 4-3 on Monday afternoon at the Butler Bubble. The 'Dawgs took the doubles point, but four single wins from the Cougars sealed the victory.

Rachel Sutton and Angelina Qin gave BU a quick lead with a 6-1 victory at No. 3 doubles. The point went to Butler after a 6-4 win at the No. 2 spot from Bailey Padgett and Kailey Eaton.

Kylie Haviland and Sutton each earned a win for Butler in singles competition, but the Cougars came from behind to steal the 4-3 win. Haviland was active at No. 3 singles, winning the set 6-3, 6-7, 6-4. Sutton posted the most impressive singles win for Butler by defeating her opponent 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 5 spot.

SIUE earned a three-set win at No. 2 and No. 4 singles to pull off the late rally. The 'Dawgs will return to the court in search of their first win by hosting South Dakota State on Jan. 23.
