Butler cross country heads to Urbana-Champagne, Ill. to race in the 2015 Illini Invitational Friday evening.
On the men's side, head coach Matt Roe said he will run seniors James Martin and Jon Kortman, along with sophomores Chris O'Brien, Michael Carey and Malik Mahmud. Senior Caroline Kaplan, juniors Jennifer Schrock and Hannah Hartzell, and freshmen Danielle Carr and Kerianne Schoff will compete for the women.
Butler will face nearly 150 runners hailing from host Illinois as well as Bradley, Eastern Illinois, Illinois State, Purdue, and Loyola (Chicago).
The meet will kick off with the women's 5K at 4 p.m. CST at the University of Illinois Arboretum, located at 1800 S. Lincoln Ave., Urbana, Ill. The men's 8K is set for 4:40.
The Illini Open is the final meet before the 2015 postseason kicks off on Oct. 31 with the BIG EAST Conference Championships in Mason, Ohio.
