CHICAGO – Elise Wyatt scored a hat trick against Butler on Thursday afternoon to lead the nationally ranked DePaul Blue Demons to a 3-2 victory at Walsh Field. McKenzie Muchow scored her first goal of the season in the first half and Randi DeLong added a score late, but the three-goal performance from Wyatt was too much to overcome.

Wyatt opened up the scoring in the 20th minute of action off an assist from Franny Cerny. Her ninth goal of the season found room inside the far post to give the Blue Demons the 1-0 advantage.

The lead wouldn't last as Muchow found the back of the net just two minutes later off a feed from Serina Kashimoto. The 'Dawgs would hold onto the tie until the 30th minute when Wyatt scored her second goal of the contest off an assist from Lucy Edwards.

The score stayed put at 2-1 for a majority of the second half, but Wyatt would change that late in the game with an unassisted, breakaway goal that beat the keeper to the lower left side. Her third goal of the match moved her season total to 11.

The final goal of the game went to Butler as Randi DeLong pushed the ball past the keeper for the first time this season. DeLong moved the Bulldogs within one score of the Blue Demons, but it was a touch too late with just 40 seconds remaining in the contest.

Alejandria Godinez was the winning goalkeeper while Madison Card took the loss. Each team made three saves on the day with Godinez making all three stops for her team and Card coming up with two. Butler was also credited with a team save late in the second half which stopped a shot on goal from Wyatt.

Total shots favored the home team with DePaul taking six in each frame compared to just six total from BU. DePaul also won the corner kick battle 3-1.

Butler will return to action on Sunday with a 1 p.m. match against Georgetown.
