@ButlerMBB and Temple Meet Friday in Puerto Rico

Butler meets Temple Friday afternoon in the semifinals of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off in San Juan. The tip is scheduled for 1 p.m. (Eastern, 2 p.m. in San Juan) and will be broadcast on ESPN2. Alvaro Martin and Cory Alexander are on the TV call, while Mark Minner and Nick Gardner can be heard on 107.5 FM and the TuneIn Radio App.

 
THE SERIES: Butler holds a 1-0 advantage in the all-time series against Temple. The Bulldogs won, 83-71, at Hinkle Fieldhouse on Jan. 26, 2013. Rotnei Clarke led the Bulldogs with 24 points and nine assists. The match-up was part of Butler's only season as a member of the Atlantic 10. Butler is now in the BIG EAST while Temple is now a member of the American Athletic Conference.


LAST TIME OUT: Andrew Chrabascz and Kelan Martin each poured in 18 points as Butler ran away from Missouri State, 93-59, Thursday afternoon in the team's opening game of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off in San Juan. Tyler Lewis had 10 assists for the Bulldogs, who improve to 2-0 on the young season. Missouri State falls to 0-2. 


Tyler Lewis had 10 assists against Missouri State Thursday. He is the first Butler player since Ronald Nored (vs. Indiana State, Feb. 18, 2012) to post double-figure assists in a game. Lewis has 13 assists against no turnovers in 48 minutes of play in the team's two games so far this season. 


Kelan Martin is 11-of-14 (79 percent) from the field so far this season. He has 31 points in 37 minutes through two games. His 18 points against Missouri State is the second-highest scoring output of his career, trailing only his 23 points against Loyola (Md.) in the third game of the 2014-15 season. He had the first career double-double in the season opener against The Citadel. 
Kellen Dunham had 11 points against Missouri State, giving him 1,446 career points. That moved him into 13th place on Butler's career scoring list, passing Bobby Plump. He had his 11 points on 4-of-4 shooting. The four field goal attempts is Dunham's fewest since his freshman season.


Roosevelt Jones
had six points to move into 32nd place on Butler's career scoring list with 1,101 points. He is 21 points from passing Brandon Miller for 29th place. Jones has 21 rebounds on the season, 10 against Citadel and 11 against Missouri State. He had back-to-back double-digit rebound performances twice in his career, both in his freshman season in 2011-12. He now has 11 double-figure rebounding outputs in his career. He had two last season and two as a sophomore in 2012-13.


Andrew Chrabascz shared the team-high in points against Missouri State with Kelan Martin. It was the seventh time in Chrabascz's career that he has led Butler in scoring.


After four assists against Missouri State, Jones has 318 career assists. He passed Mike Green and A.J. Graves to move into eighth on Butler's career list. Avery Sheets (323) is next on the list.


Butler has scoring performances of 144 and 93 points this season. Butler scored at least 93 points only twice in all of the 2014-15 season.


Butler has 50 assists through two games compared to just 14 for its two opponents.


Butler has shot at least 60 percent in both of its games (56-88, .636 vs. The Citadel and 33-55, .600 vs. Missouri State)
