Box Score INDIANAPOLIS – The Bulldogs were defeated by Marquette on Friday night by the final score of 3-0 (18-25, 14-25, 15-25). Mary Striedl and Anna Logan combined for 21 of Butler's 33 kills on the night, but it wouldn't be enough to slow down the Golden Eagle attack, highlighted by outside hitter Taylor Louis.
Louis led Marquette to victory by recording a match-high 18 kills on just 39 swings. With Louis pacing the offense, the Golden Eagles picked up balanced efforts from Sara Blasier and Jenna Rosenthal. Blasier was in the box score with a double-double off 34 assists and 14 digs while Rosenthal recorded 11 kills, three blocks and the teams only service ace.
Marquette was highly efficient on Friday night, ending the contest with a .411 attack percentage. Butler was held to a .119 attack percentage with Striedl leading the group at .233. Striedl was the player of the game for BU as the senior recorded a team-high 14 kills to go with five digs and a block. Joining Striedl with a standout effort for Butler was setter Makayla Ferguson who posted 30 assists and 10 digs. Logan was also heavily involved with seven kills and six digs.
Aki Aitsebaomo came up with two of Butler's three service aces against Marquette with Logan responsible with the third. Kodi Smith matched Ferguson for the team-high dig total adding 10 of her own.
The Bulldogs will end the regular season tomorrow with a 6 PM match against the DePaul Blue Demons. Senior Night activities will honor Mary Striedl and Natalie Meert.
