About the Bulldogs
Butler has been on the road the last two weekends. The most recent weekend included a pair of 3-1 wins at Providence and St. John's. Anna Logan, Jessica Klingensmith and Mary Striedl posted double-digit kills in both matches to lead the Butler offense. It's no coincidence that those three players lead the team in kills per set on the season.
Logan ranks second in digs per set, trailing only
Aki Aitsebaomo in the season statistics.
Kodi Smith had a team-high 21 digs against St. John's last time out.
Briana Lilly and
Makaila Jarema stand 1-2 in blocks, while
Makayla Ferguson is coming off a 43-assist performance at St. John's, where she also added eight digs, seven kills, and four blocks.
All-Time Series
Butler leads the all-time series against each opponent this weekend with a 3-2 mark against Seton Hall and a 5-1 record vs. Villanova. However, the Bulldogs will be looking for revenge after dropping contests to both opponents on the road last month.
The Pirates won a 3-0 decision October 9 on their home court.
Entering the 2015 season, Butler had not lost a set to Villanova since joining the BIG EAST Conference in 2013. Villanova posted a 3-2 win October 10 in Philadelphia. The first-ever meeting happened in 1995 at the Oregon State Sizzler Classic. BU beat Nova 3-1.
