Box Score Butler guard Kellen Dunham has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week after leading the Bulldogs to a pair of victories, including a 78-76 victory at No. 17/17 Cincinnati. It is Dunham's second BIG EAST weekly honor of his career, as he was also named the Player of the Week on Feb. 9, 2015.
Dunham averaged 21.5 points in a pair of wins, including a game-high 24 points in a 78-76 victory at No. 17/17 Cincinnati. He scored 16 of his points in the second half which sparked a Bulldog rally. Dunham added 19 points on 6-of-7 shooting in an 85-71 win against Indiana State.
The senior leads the BIG EAST in scoring with a 21.3 average and in free throw shooting, making 94.4 percent (34-of-36). Dunham also leads the BIG EAST in three-pointers made at 3.0 per game.
Dunham is the first Butler player to earn BIG EAST men's basketball weekly honors this season. The accolade is particularly impressive during a weekend when BIG EAST teams compiled an 8-1 record to improve to 59-18 (.763) for the season against non-conference competition.
Dunham and the Bulldogs return to action Monday night, hosting VMI at 7 p.m. at Hinkle Fieldhouse. The game will be broadcast on FSN.
