Box Score INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler Bulldogs were defeated by Green Bay on Wednesday night by the final score of 55-46. Brittany Ward scored a career-high 19 points on 10-of-11 shooting from the charity stripe, but the Phoenix were able to outscore the Bulldogs 23-16 in the fourth quarter to secure the win.
The fourth quarter opened up with a 3-point field goal from Blaire Langlois to move the Bulldogs within a point of Green Bay at 33-32. Langlois' triple was matched by Jessica Lindstrom who came up with back-to-back 3-pointers and a jumper from Mehryn Kraker extended the scoring streak to 8-0 which gave Green Bay the 40-33 edge.
Butler got back within a single possession after a three-point play from Alexa Bailey, but a 6-0 Phoenix scoring run would follow allowing Green Bay to hold on for the win.
Ward paced the Bulldogs with 19 points while Langlois chipped in with 11. Belle Obert nearly reached a double-double with a team-high nine rebounds to go along with seven blocked shots. A large majority of Obert's blocks came early in the action and Green Bay would have to move to the perimeter in order to attack BU.
Green Bay and Butler each knocked down seven three-point field goals. The Phoenix shot 31 percent from distance while Butler came in at 28 percent. Langlois was responsible for three of Butler's 3-point field goals and sophomore Sydney Buck added two. Buck finished the game with six points and a career-high seven rebounds.
The Bulldogs were once again limited to just seven players, but there was a slight change with the addition of Nicole Orr and the loss of Tori Schickel. Orr played for the first time since Nov. 15 while Schickel missed her first game of the season. Orr will be worked back into the lineup moving forward while Schickel is listed as day-to-day.
24 Butler turnovers would lead to 22 points for the Phoenix. The visitors also dominated points in the paint 20-8. 14 made field goals is a new season-low for Butler, which led to their season-low point total of 46. The team will look to get back on track this weekend with a 2 PM tip vs. Arkansas on Sunday, Dec. 13.
