NEW YORK -- The Bulldogs set yet another school record on Thursday night with an outstanding performance in the 200 Free Relay. Additional events to take place on day two of the championship schedule included the 500 Free, 200 IM and the 50 Free.
Each member of the 200 Free Relay posted a lifetime-best split in the event. The team finished in fifth place overall with a time of 1:37.36. The new school record was set by the team of Emma Green, Amanda Wagner, Abby Gibbons and Audrey Gosnell.
Green hit the water first in the lead-off position and got the team off to a great start with a 24.90 split. The time places her sixth overall on the Butler All-Time Top 10 List. Wagner was second with a 24.39 split, Gibbons followed at 24.47 and Gosnell finished the race at 23.60.
The Bulldogs had three student-athletes in the 500 Free with Liz Miller posting the top time. Miller finished 21st with a time of 5:11.66 an effort that lands her fourth on the All-Time Top 10 List. Joining Miller in the 500 Free was Sarah Gibbons and Abby Cutler. Gibbons placed 24th with a time of 5:14.62 and Cutler touched the wall at 5:24.60 for 31st place.
Head Coach Maurice Stewart placed five swimmers in the 200 IM on Thursday night. Green placed 14th in the prelims with a time of 2:10.08 and was on pace for a 15th place finish in the finals at 2:10.56. She recorded a season-best time along with the rest of the participants which included Emily Motill, Allie Dvorchak, Maggie Wright and Emily McCutchan. Motill took 22nd place at 2:15.58 and Dvorchak ended the day in 25th place (2:18.45). Rounding out the effort was Wright at 27th place (2:21.74) and McCutchan right behind her in 28th (2:25.18).
Gosnell, Wagner and Gibbons were busy on Thursday as they also competed in the 50 Free for the Bulldogs. Gosnell placed ninth in the prelims which enabled her to win the B Final and place ninth overall with a time of 24.18. Wagner placed 16th overall with a time of 25.05 and Gibbons ended the race in 21st (25.41).
