FLORIDA – The Bulldogs recently faced off against Western Michigan, Central Florida and Florida Atlantic to begin the month of March. Butler went 0-3 during that stretch, but won the doubles point in two of the three matches.

Doubles play highlighted the trip with Butler defeating both Western Michigan and Central Florida to earn a point. Sam O'Neill and Billy Weldon chalked up a 7-5 win on a neutral court at Daytona Beach vs. Jimmy Beckwith and Jefta Kecic at No. 2. The Broncos settled the score at No. 3 doubles, but Butler would come out on top with a 7-5 win at No. 1 from Brandon Woods and Pulok Bhattacharya.  

Momentum would not stay with Butler however as the Broncos racked up five wins during singles play with the lone Butler victory coming 2-6, 6-4, 10-7 from O'Neill.

The setback to Central Florida was more of the same as Butler won the doubles point, but was unable to make any noise during singles competition. This true road test on Central Florida's campus took place in Orlando and featured a singles win from Tommy Marx at No. 6 (6-2, 3-6, 10-6). The final outcome also came out to 5-2 with Butler earning the doubles point off wins from the Woldmoe brothers at No. 3 (6-2) and the tandem of O'Neill and Weldon at No. 2 (7-6).

The last stop on the spring break trip took the team to Boca Raton Fla. where the Bulldogs faced off against Florida Atlantic. The Owls posted a clean 7-0 sweep against Butler although the matches were much closer than the final score.

Three of the six single matches went to a third-set or tiebreaker, although the Owls handled doubles competition with a 6-3 win at No. 1 and a 6-2 victory at No. 3.

Bhattacharya put up a fight for BU at No. 5 singles (6-1, 2-6, 6-1) while both Austin Woldmoe and O'Neill were retired in tiebreakers.
