Box Score NEW YORK – Butler's Jeff Schank was recognized by the BIG EAST Conference on Monday afternoon by earning BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week honors for his efforts against IPFW. The left-hander tossed seven full innings in the 12-0 shutout win over the Mastodons on Saturday afternoon.
Schank earned the nod for BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week while Villanova's Todd Czinege walked away with BIG EAST Player of the Week honors. Czinege hit .556 with four runs scored and four RBIs in the Snowbird Classic last week. His numbers were just slightly better than Butler's Ryan Wojciechowski who made the BIG EAST Baseball Weekly Honor Roll with his .500 batting average last weekend which included three doubles and five RBIs.
Schank got the ball rolling for Butler on Saturday afternoon by blanking the visiting IPFW Mastodons in his fourth start of the season. The 6-1 lefty recorded a season-high 10 strikeouts in seven innings of work. He limited the opposition to just three hits and no earned runs while walking only two. His outstanding performance put Butler in the driver's seat for the 12-0 win as freshman Josh Goldberg took over for the final two innings to give Butler their second win of the young season.

Knocked in five RBI in a 2-1 week for Butler, batting .500 with three runs, six hits, three doubles and a walk.

Batted .471 (8-for-17) with two RBI over a 2-1 weekend for the Hoyas. Went 6-for-9 in Georgetown's doubleheader sweep over Northwestern, including a 4-for-5 game with the go-ahead two-run double in the top of the ninth to win the second game.

Eight strikeouts in six innings of a 7-1 win over Northwestern to end the Hoyas' five-game losing strike. Allowed just one earned run.

Righty gave up just one earned run in 7.1 innings with four strikeouts and a double in a close 1-0 loss at USF.
Zach Lauricella, St. John's, OF, Sr.
Batted .417 (5-for-12) with five RBI, and a pair of multi-hit games in a three-game series at No. 8 Oregon. Hit safely in all three games to extend his current hitting streak to 10 games. Lauricella leads the league in batting with a .395 average.
