Ball State Tops Butler 6-1

INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler women's tennis team dropped an outdoor match to Ball State on Tuesday afternoon 6-1. Bailey Padgett recorded the lone win for the Bulldogs with a 7-6, 6-3 victory at No. 2.

"We fought very hard and showed great improvement from when we played BSU this past fall," Head Coach Tayo Bailey explained. "I expect the girls to peak very soon as the conference season gets closer."

Ball State grabbed the doubles point with a pair of 6-3 wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Courtney Earnest and Rosalinda Calderon defeated Konstantina Adami and Kylie Haviland while the tandem of Olivia Large and Toni Ormond took down Grace Hyde and Michelle McFerran.

The score was much closer than it looked on Tuesday as Adami and Minnick took their opponents into a tiebreaker to decide a winner. Adami was ultimately defeated 6-7, 6-3, 10-8 at No. 3 while Minnck took a 6-3, 5-7, 10-7 setback.

Rounding out the effort was Haviland at No. 1 (6-1, 6-3), Eaton at No. 4 (7-5, 6-2) and McFerran at No. 5 (6-2, 6-0).
