INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler men's tennis team put on a strong performance as they defeated cross-town rival IUPUI on Friday afternoon by the final score of 6-1. Sam O'Neill paced the group with a win at No. 1 doubles alongside Billy Weldon, followed up by a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles.

O'Neill helped lift Butler to victory with his strong play against the Jaguars. He secured the doubles point with the help of Weldon by taking down Patrick O'Neill and Adam Reinhart of IUPUI 8-6. The first BU win of the day was recorded at No. 2 doubles where Brandon Woods and Pulok Bhattacharya came out victorious 8-4.

Singles play for Butler was on point with O'Neill, Austin Woldmoe and Bhattacharya all winning in straight sets. O'Neill earned his No. 1 win over Jac Newis 6-2, 6-2 while Austin Woldmoe made quick work of his opponent at No. 3 6-2, 6-4. Bhattacharya finished right behind Woldmoe to post his win at No. 4, 6-4, 7-5.

Additional BU winners included Tommy Marx and Alex Woldmoe. Marx held off Thomas Gans 7-5, 5-7, 10-7 in the last match of the day while Alex Woldmoe came out as a 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 winner.
