@ButlerMenSoccer Drops Exhibition Opener at Michigan

Butler opened the 2015 season with its first of three exhibition contests. The Bulldogs traveled to Ann Arbor, Mich., and lost 3-0 against the Michigan Wolverines.

"We started strong and did a nice job attacking early," said Butler coach Paul Snape. "Unfortunately, we lost our focus right before the half and allowed a goal off a set piece. In the second half, we came out with more energy and created a lot of chances. That's one of the positives from today. We just couldn't put one of those chances in the back of the net.

"We have to be mentally stronger and not give up easy goals when we are trying to overcome a deficit. And we need to do a better job moving the ball quicker and sharper. It's the preseason and we'll use this experience to make us better moving forward."

Butler out-shot the home team, 12-8, including 10 shots in the second half. The Bulldogs also held a 7-5 advantage in corner kicks. However, the Wolverines were able to find the net on three occasions. Michigan's goals came from Andre Morris (40'), Francis Atuahene (65') and William Mellors-Blair (87').

Butler hosts Notre Dame Wednesday (August 19) in an exhibition match at the Butler Bowl. A reserves match will begin at 5 p.m. followed by the exhibition match at 6 p.m.
