Box Score Butler remained undefeated on the young season, posting a 1-1 tie at UIC in Chicago on Saturday (Sept. 5) afternoon. The Bulldogs now stand at 2-0-1, while UIC evens out at 1-1-1.
After a scoreless first half, Butler found the net first in the 56
th minute. Senior
Jeff Adkins served the ball in from the left side and
Eric Leonard's header beat the Flames' keeper. It was Leonard's first goal of the young season.
UIC's Marco Alvarez answered in the 70th minute off a feed from his twin brother, Jorge.
Eric Dick preserved the draw with two saves in the 20 minutes of extra play. He had three saves on the day.
The Bulldogs and Flames each had 15 shots on the day with UIC holding a slight edge with eight corner kicks to Butler's six.
Adkins led the Bulldogs with five shots, followed by three apiece from Leonard and freshman
Jared Timmer. Junior forward
David Goldsmith had two on the afternoon following his two-goal performance Tuesday night at IUPUI.
The Bulldogs return to action Saturday (Sept. 12) with their first home match of the 2015 campaign, hosting Drake at the Butler Bowl for a 1 p.m. kick.
