INDIANAPOLIS -- The Bulldogs fell to Marquette at home on Sunday afternoon 80-64 dropping their record to 7-11 on the season and 2-5 in conference play. Brittany Ward set a career-high in rebounds with 17 and was one point shy of tying her career-best in points with 18 for the contest in what would be her fourth double-double on the season.

Ward had 12 rebounds in the first half and finished with 11 offensive boards in the game. The Bulldogs out-rebounded Marquette 47-36 on the game, but it wasn't enough to overcome shooting 37 percent from the field and just 18 percent from 3-point range.

Sydney Buck led the team with 21 points, with 13 of them coming in the second half. Buck also made four of team's five three-point baskets. Belle Obert just missed a double-double for herself with nine points and nine rebounds.

Marquette had three players score in double figures and spread the ball around with nine players putting up points. Allazia Blockton led the team with 18 points. Natisha Hiedeman and Erika Davenport added 17 and 16, respectively.

The Golden Eagles forced Butler into committing 24 turnovers that led to 19 points for Marquette.

Despite how the Bulldogs shot from behind the arc, the team shot over 48 percent from inside of the three-point line.

It was a game of runs for Marquette as the team was able to manage a 6-0 scoring run or greater in every quarter. Despite this, the Bulldogs were able to hold Marquette close early on as it was just a one-point game going into the second quarter and a five-point game going into halftime, but Marquette pulled away for good with an 11-0 scoring run to begin the second half.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Friday, as they will travel to St. John's to take on the Red Storm. Action on the BIG EAST Digital Network will begin at 7:00 PM.
