PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Bulldogs dropped a 68-51 decision at Alumni Hall on Friday afternoon moving their conference record to 0-2. The Friars shot 52 percent in the victory including 53 percent (7-13) from 3-point range.
 
3-point shooting was a major factor on Friday between the two conference foes with Butler going 1-for-15 from behind the arc compared to Providence knocking down seven of their 13 attempts. Yoyo Nogic hit three 3-point field goals in the opening quarter and five for the game to lead PC with 18 points. The Friars had four players reach double figures with Aliyah Miller posting 12, Sarah Beal adding 11 and Maddie Jolin came off the bench to net 13.
 
Butler was led in scoring by freshman Kristen Spolyar who finished the game with 11. Spolyar was limited to just 24 minutes on Friday due to foul trouble. She added four rebounds, one assist and one steal.
 
Tori Schickel recorded 10 points, six rebounds and two steals at Providence while Michelle Weaver ended the contest with nine points and four rebounds. Butler only managed to record six assists on 17 made field goals. The opposition handed out 15 assists on 24 made shots.
 
Butler will return to action on Monday, Jan. 2 with a home game against Seton Hall. The game will be aired live on FS1.
