Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. – Butler scored a season-low 35 points at Georgetown on Friday afternoon to fall to 4-13 in conference play. Senior guard Blaire Langlois scored 18 of BU's 35.
Langlois was the only Bulldog to find a rhythm offensively. As a team, Butler committed 20 turnovers and were only able to come up with 11 made field goals. Five of their 11 made shots came from 3-point range. Langlois made three from deep, Sydney Buck and Belle Obert each added one.
BU shot 22 percent from the field and the Hoyas were not much better at 24 percent. Georgetown pulled down 23 offensive rebounds on their way to owning the battle on the glass 57-43. Dominique Vitalis led the home team with a double-double. The forward scored a team-high 12 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.
Dionna White tied Vitalis for the team lead in scoring by adding 12 and Dorothy Adomako, who missed the first meeting this season, came up with nine points and seven boards.
Butler got off to a rough start and headed to the bench after the first media timeout with zero points. Nicole Orr checked into the game after the stoppage and came up with an old school 3-point play that broke the scoreless streak.
BU would take their first lead of the contest on the very next trip down as Langlois hit her first 3-point field goal of the game. The opening quarter would then come to a close with Brittany Ward getting involved with four-straight points.
Georgetown couldn't make shots in the opening frame (5-for-25), but their dominance on the offensive glass gave them plenty of second and third looks. The Hoyas grabbed 10 offensive rebounds in the opening 10 minutes alone to take a 13-10 lead.
Butler only made two field goals in the second quarter as each senior buried a 3-pointer. Langlois added a single point from the charity stripe as the 'Dawgs went into the half trailing 26-17.
Georgetown put up 13 points in each of the first three quarters, but would only need 10 in the fourth to secure the win. They were able to build their lead in the second quarter by scoring the final eight points of the half.
The Bulldogs never threatened in the second half as they were outscored 13-11 in the third and 10-7 in the fourth. Langlois scored all seven of Butler's points in the final quarter.
The team will look to get back on track Sunday afternoon as they take on the Villanova Wildcats at 1 p.m.
