INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler women's tennis team returned to action Saturday afternoon with a home match vs. Cincinnati. The Bearcats came out victorious 6-1.
Butler avoided the shutout by getting a singles win at No. 4. Rachel Sutton lost 2-6, but came fighting back to win the second set 6-2. The third set would also go to Sutton 6-1.
The 'Dawgs also performed well in doubles play, however they were not able to pick up the point. Konstantina Adami and Bailey Padgett defeated Natalia Abdalla and Ali Miller 7-5, but the Bearcats held off the charge with a 7-5 win at No. 2 and a 6-4 decision at No. 3. Kailey Eaton and Jocelyn Koester represented BU at No. 2 while the No. 3 team consisted of Grace Hyde and Jordan Minnick.
Sutton was clearly the top performer for BU in singles play, but Head Coach Tayo Bailey also got a strong performance out of Bailey Padgett in the No. 1 spot. Padgett forced a third set, but ultimately fell to Ali Miller 6-0, 4-6, 6-3.
