Box Score ST. LOUIS – The Billikens jumped out to a 5-0 lead after four innings at the Billiken Sports Center on Friday afternoon and never looked back on their way to recording a 9-4 victory against the Bulldogs. The loss moves Butler to 5-11 while Saint Louis improves to 8-10.
Drew Small had a nice day from the plate for BU going 3-for-5 with a run scored at the two-hole in the batting order. RBI's on the day were recorded by Gehrig Parker, Tyler Houston and Connor Dall.
Michael Bozarth and Josh Bunselmeyer led the Billikens to victory. Bozarth went 4-for-5 as the lead-off man, while scoring two runs and adding two RBI's. Bunselmeyer batted clean up and led the team with four RBI's off two hits.
A sacrifice fly from Saint Louis broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the first, then a two-RBI double from Bunselmeyer in the second increased the Billiken lead to 4-0.
Starting pitcher Jeff Schank gave up a one-out solo home to James Morisano in the bottom of the fourth to move the score to 5-0, but the Bulldogs would get on the scoreboard soon after on Tyler Houston's RBI single to right center.
A second two-RBI double from Bunselmeyer iced the game for the Billikens in the bottom of the eighth, however Butler did push three runs across in the top of nine to get to the final score of 9-4.
Connor Dall singled through the left side to score Jordan Lucio and after back-to-back wild pitches Garret Christman would come around to score and Dall would move all the way over to third base. Gehrig Parker would ground out to short to score Dall and a BU strikeout would follow to end the game.
