Box Score Three runs in the top of the seventh propelled the visiting Bulldogs to a 3-0 win at Eastern Illinois Tuesday afternoon in Charleston, Ill. Maggie MacBeth went a perfect 4-of-4 at the plate to lead the Butler offensive attack. With the win, Butler is 16-12 on the season.
In the seventh, MacBeth and
Sarah Dixon led off the inning with singles. They were sacrificed to second and third, respectively, by
Katelyn Cahill.
Kaitlin Doud then scored MacBeth on a single and an
Alyssa Lach fielder's choice scored Dixon.
Audrey Hiner singled in the team's third run with two outs.
Kristin Gutierrez and
Kacey Starwalt combined on the shutout. Gutierrez pitched the first four innings, allowing two hits and one walk while striking out five. Starwalt pitched three perfect innings to pick up the win, improving to 5-1 on the season.
Michelle Rogers took the loss for EIU (8-16), allowing the first two runs in the top of the seventh.
Butler returns to action Wednesday, hosting Ball State at 4 p.m.
