Box Score A 3-for-4 performance from Brandyce Sallee and a two-run homerun by Alyssa Lach sparked a 9-1 Butler win over Ball State Wednesday afternoon in Indianapolis. Butler improves to 17-12 on the season leading into its first BIG EAST match-up of the season this weekend.
Butler scored three runs in the third inning before erupting for five runs in the fourth. Sallee doubled in two runs before she scored on a Kaitlin Doud single. A few batters later Alyssa Lach sent a blast over the left field for a two-run shot and an 8-1 lead.
In the bottom of the sixth, Lach closed the game when her bunt scored Sarah Dixon from third to give Butler the 9-1 final.
All nine players in Butler's starting line-up had at least one hit as the Bulldogs had 13 on the day.
Mikeila Boroff got the start for Butler and pitched 3.1 innings. The only run she allowed was unearned. Ambry Turpen pitched the final 2.2 innings and got the win (1-0). Turpen came in during the bottom of the fourth and got out of a bases loaded, one-out jam.
Sallee and Lach each had three RBIs on the day. Doud added two.
Butler opens BIG EAST play Friday as Seton Hall comes to Indianapolis for a three-game weekend series. The single game Friday is set to begin at 3 p.m. and will be broadcast on the BIG EAST Digital Network.
