BLOOMINGTON – Indiana posted a 27-1 win over Butler on Wednesday night at Bart Kaufman Field. The Hoosiers had two players with five RBIs each and one with six.

Shortstop Brian Wilhite had a career-night for IU at the plate going 4-for-5 with two homeruns, four runs scored and six RBIs. First baseman Austin Cangelosi nearly matched that effort for the home team with a 3-for-4 outing that included two homeruns, five runs scored and five RBIs. The second member of the team to post five RBIs was centerfielder Craig Dedelow who recorded four hits in his team-high seven at-bats.

The Hoosier bats took advantage of a Butler staff day where eight different pitchers saw time on the mound. Bobby Napoleon got the start and was banged up with four earned runs. Nearly every pitcher that saw the mound today gave up at least one earned run. The lone exception was Josh Goldberg who finished the final 1.2 innings of work. He struck out three while only allowing one hit.

The Bulldogs avoided the shutout by pushing one run across in the top of the seventh inning. Connor Dall hit a double to right that scored Chris Marras. Dall settled in at second base defensively for Butler on Wednesday, but once again was a spark in the lineup, finishing the contest 2-for-3.

The Hoosiers used seven pitchers against BU to limit the Bulldogs to just six hits. Jon Stiever got the start and the win for IU. He tossed four innings and held Butler to just one hit.

The Bulldogs will return to action this weekend by hosting a pair of opponents. Both Western Michigan and Bradley will visit Indianapolis this weekend. BU will host two games against each club.
