@ButlerWBB Ends Regular Season with 65-53 Setback to Creighton

Box Score

INDIANAPOLIS – The Bulldogs played their final game of the regular season this afternoon at Hinkle Fieldhouse and would end the contest with a 65-53 loss to the Creighton Bluejays. BU will enter next weekend's BIG EAST Women's Basketball Tournament as the #10 seed after posting a 2-16 conference record.

Tori Schickel and Alexa Bailey were the top two offensive talents in the game for BU on Sunday afternoon. It was another day in the office for Schickel who ended the game with 16 points and 11 rebounds, but Bailey's 16 points were a bit of a surprise with the sophomore point guard making eight of her 19 attempts. Bailey's 16 points goes down as a new career-high. She added five rebounds, two assists, one steal and one blocked shot to her stat line.

The Bulldogs would hold a 16-14 lead after the first quarter, but an eight-point Bluejay swing would turn the momentum of the game. Creighton held the upper hand in the third quarter to increase their lead and would race to the finish line as co-regular season champions along with DePaul.

Marissa Janning exploded for a game-high 27 points in 39 minutes of action. She was one of three Bluejays to hit double figures along with Brianna Rollerson and Jaylyn Agnew. Janning hit three of Creighton's seven made 3-pointers on the day and also added four points from the charity stripe.

Butler's ability to score hit a rough patch midway through the game. Schickel and Bailey combined for 32 of Butler's 53 points. The next highest scoring total belonged to Sydney Shelton who posted seven points.

The Bulldogs shot 35 percent from the field and 22 percent from 3-point range. They went cold from the free throw line as well connecting on just 13 of their 22 attempts.
