INDIANAPOLIS — One of the toughest road trips of the season is on the horizon for the Butler women's basketball program. The Bulldogs will face RV Marquette on Friday night and end the weekend with a 4:30 tip at DePaul. Sunday's contest at Wintrust Arena will air live on CBSSN.
 
Bulldog Bits
- Junior Tori Schickel reached 1,000 career points on Wednesday night vs. St. John's
- Schickel is the fifth Bulldog in program history to go 11-for-11 from the charity stripe
- BU didn't miss a single free throw attempt against the Red Storm (16-16)
- Whitney Jennings scored six points vs. St. John's, her lowest scoring total this year
- Butler is averaging 10 more points per game than last year's team (67.4 vs. 57.8)
- Shae Brey has grabbed an offensive rebound in 12-straight games
- Butler is 5-2 on the road this year, including 2-0 against BIG EAST competition

Scouting RV Marquette
The Golden Eagles are the only undefeated team in the BIG EAST with a perfect 5-0 record. St. John's took Marquette to overtime in the BIG EAST opener, but head coach Carolyn Kieger was able to lead her group to a 74-72 victory. Marquette averages 84.4 points per game. The high powered offense is led by Allazia Blockton, the BIG EAST Preseason Player of the Year. Blockton is averaging 19.6 points per game, the highest scoring average of any BIG EAST Player. Natisha Hiedeman and Ericka Davenport are two other players to keep an eye on Friday night. The Preseason All-BIG EAST picks are averaging 14.4 and 12.0 points per game respectively. Danielle King and Amani Wilborn round out the starting five unit. Both players average a double figures in the scoring column.
 
A Year Ago vs. Marquette
Marquette took care of business last year on their home court to claim a 91-53 win. Four of the five starters reached double figures in the lopsided outcome. Blockton led all players with 20 points. The rematch at Hinkle Fieldhouse was much closer. Marquette took a two-point lead into the fourth quarter and was able to hang on for a 72-66 victory. Sydney Buck came off the bench to score a game-high 21 points in the loss. She went 7-for-15 from 3-point range.
 
All-Time Series
The all-time series between Marquette and Butler favors the Golden Eagles 9-7. The first meeting came back during the 1985-86 season with Butler edging Marquette 62-61. Butler's last win over Marquette came in Milwaukee during the 2014-15 season. BU won 76-67.
 
Scouting DePaul
The Blue Demons are 12-5 overall with a 4-1 mark against conference foes. Their lone setback in the BIG EAST came at Marquette, 93-81. Head coach Doug Bruno has six student-athletes scoring in double figures. Mart'e Grays leads the way with a 13.9 scoring average. As a team, DePaul puts up 86.1 points per game.
 
A Year Ago vs. DePaul
DePaul dropped 100 points against Butler a year ago in Chicago to post a 31-point victory. Michelle Weaver led BU with 20 points, two assists and two steals. The rematch featured DePaul winning by 30, 92-62.
 
All-Time Series
DePaul has never lost to Butler in 13 head-to-head meetings. The first matchup came during the 1984-85 season with DePaul winning 61-56. The two programs were each members of the North Star Conference.
 
1,000 Career Point Club
Junior Tori Schickel reached 1,000 career points in the setback to St. John's on Wednesday night. She ended the contest with a team-high 19 points to push her career total to 1,004.  Schickel became just the 22nd player in Butler women's basketball history to reach 1,000. She will try to climb up the all-time scoring list over the weekend. Liesl Schultz (1,019), Sarah Armington (1,022), and Nancy Bowden (1,031) are all in range for Schickel.
 
RPI Rankings
Butler dropped to 65 in the RPI Poll after losing to St. John's on Wednesday night. The BIG EAST is well represented in the Top 50 of the RPI with Villanova coming in at 13, Marquette at 20, DePaul at 28, and St. John's at 34.
 
Upset
Butler's 76-53 win at #21 Villanova was the program's first win over a ranked opponent since the 1998-99 season. Butler defeated #25 Illinois 81-65 in the San Diego Masry and Vititoe Classic. The game was played on 11/27/98.
 
What A Difference A Year Makes
The Bulldogs are 11-6 overall with a 3-2 record against conference opponents. One year ago at this time they were 5-11 overall with a 2-3 mark in the league. The biggest difference is found in the scoring column. BU averages 67.4 points per game this season compared to just 55.9 a year ago. Butler has a higher field goal percentage (42.1/38.2), 3-point field goal percentage (30.5/26.5) and free throw percentage (79.3/66.0) than last year's team.
 
Knock Them Down
Butler has made more free throw attempts than any other school in the BIG EAST Conference. They are shooting 79.3% from the charity stripe, posting the best percentage in the league and the ninth-highest percentage in the NCAA. BU made all 16 of their attempts against St. John's on Wednesday night. Tori Schickel led the way, going 11-for-11.
 
One-Two Punch
Tori Schickel and Whitney Jennings account for 52% of Butler's scoring this season. Jennings ranks second in the BIG EAST with an 18.1 scoring average. Schickel ranks sixth in the league by averaging 17.1 points per contest.
 
All-Time Great
Tori Schickel has 731 rebounds in her Butler career, a total that ranks her seventh place all-time at Butler. She is on pace to become the top rebounder in program history.
 
Protect The Rim
Tori Schickel ranks 8th all-time at Butler in career blocks. She leads the team with 30 on the year, moving her career total to 110.
 
Up Next
Butler will head back to Indianapolis after this weekend with four-straight home games on the upcoming schedule. Creighton and Providence will visit Hinkle Fieldhouse first and the month of January will come to a close with tilts against Georgetown and Villanova.
