INDIANAPOLIS – The Bulldogs picked up their second win of the season with an 86-65 decision over the Murray State Racers.
Whitney Jennings was one of five Bulldogs to hit double figures in scoring. Jennings hit 10 of her 13 field goal attempts to net a game-high 24 points.
Jennings was three-of-six from 3-point range and helped BU defensively with five steals. She shared the team lead in steals with
Michelle Weaver.
Weaver once again posted a solid stat line with 10 points and five assists.
Tori Schickel also gave head coach
Kurt Godlevske a lift with 18 points and 10 rebounds to post her second double-double of the season.
Kristen Spolyar added 11 points and five rebounds.
Katherine Strong came off the bench on Tuesday night to provide BU with 15 points on 7-of-12 shooting.
Ashanti Thomas (4),
Sarah Humphrey (2) and
Naira Caceres (2) would round out the BU scoring total.
The Bulldogs shot 52.9 percent from the field and forced 23 Racer turnovers. Those miscues would turn into points, helping BU open up a 49-33 lead at the half.
Butler's largest lead would come at the midway point of the fourth quarter (+27) and Coach G would empty the bench before reaching the conclusion of the contest.
The Bulldogs' next test will come on Saturday afternoon when they host Western Illinois at 2 PM.
