INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler women's basketball team remained undefeated by recording an 89-36 win against UMass Lowell on Tuesday afternoon. BU opened the game on a 19-0 scoring run and would lead by as many as 53 points before the final buzzer.
Butler shot 66 percent over the opening 10 minutes to build their lead (12-for-18). UMass Lowell's first point of the game would come at the 3:48 mark on a made free throw. BU ended the quarter on top 27-4.
The defense locked in again in the second quarter to limit the River Hawks to just six points. BU would cruise to their fourth win of the season by outscoring UMass Lowell 42-26 in the second half.
Tori Schickel recorded her third double-double of the season and 37th of her career with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Michelle Weaver would lead the team in scoring with 17 points and point guard
Whitney Jennings would add 15. Weaver and Jennings combined for 13 assists and nine steals in the game while only committing three turnovers.
Kristen Spolyar was the fourth member of the starting five unit to score ten or more points. She ended the game with 11 points, four rebounds, two steals and one assist.
Butler's defense caused 25 turnovers which resulted in 26 points. The Bulldogs also dominated on the inside to score 40 points in the paint.
The Bulldogs will be off until Sunday when they host Illinois State for a 2PM contest on Nov. 25.
