Creighton Defeats @ButlerUWBB on Senior Day 64-55

Box Score
OMAHA, Neb. – The Creighton Bluejays protected their home court on Sunday afternoon to claim a 64-55 win against Butler. Tori Schickel led BU in a losing effort with 20 points and eight rebounds.

Creighton had balanced attack early with seven different Bluejays scoring in the first quarter. They ended the game with four players in double figures. Ali Greene came off the bench to score a team-high 14 points.

Butler got off to a slow start, but only faced a five-point halftime deficit. Creighton scored the first nine points of the contest, but Tori Schickel would set up on the block and score four-straight for BU in the first frame. After the opening 10 minutes, Creighton would lead Butler 18-10. Schickel had six of Butler's 10.

The pace of the game slowed down in the second quarter with Butler winning that action 10-7. Michelle Weaver scored-four straight points in the second quarter to move the score to 23-18. That five-point spread would hold to halftime 25-20.

The second half got underway with Jennings drilling a deep 3-point field goal from the top of the key. Creighton would respond with a timeout and go on a 12-0 scoring run after the stoppage. BU went over five minutes without scoring during that stretch.

The 12-0 Bluejay run didn't stop Butler from fighting back in the third. They only trailed by seven heading into the final 10 minutes of action.

Faber carried Creighton to the finish line in the fourth. She scored seven early in the period to keep Butler at a distance. Kaela Hodges nearly matched her effort with six-straight for the Bulldogs.

A steal and a score from Iman Lathan would get BU within five points at 48-43, but Olivia Elger would knock down a three to push the lead back to 10.

Kristen Spolyar would knock down a 3-pointer with three minutes to play to cut the deficit to just seven points, but the Bluejays were just too much down the stretch. Faber hit a big three and the combo of Elger and Greene would finish off any chance of a comeback.

Butler will return to action on Sunday, Feb. 25 with a game at Xavier. The regular season finale will tip at 2 PM.
