Fort Wayne Wins 5-1 Over @ButlerUBaseball

INDIANAPOLIS – The Fort Wayne Mastodons recorded their fourth win of the season with a 5-1 victory over Butler on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs scored in the bottom of the fifth to make the game 2-1, but a single run in the sixth by Fort Wayne paired with two more in the top of the ninth would push the Mastodons to victory.

Butler's run in the fifth came courtesy of Harrison Freed who led off the inning with a triple to right field. Fort Wayne would retire the next two batters, but Freed would break for home on a wild pitch to put BU on the scoreboard.

Fort Wayne scored the first run of the game in the top of the first inning off an RBI ground out to first base. Their lead doubled in the fourth with Brock Logan scoring off a wild pitch and the game would move to 3-1 in the sixth after an RBI double from Shannon Baker.

Any chance of a BU comeback would be halted in the top of the ninth with Fort Wayne adding two more runs off a double to center from Travis Upp.

Garrett Christman was hit with the loss on the mound (2-2). He was one of four Bulldogs to touch the rubber on Saturday. Josh Walker, Joe Graziano and Quentin Miller also saw action.

The win went to Damian Helm who tossed seven full innings. Dalton O'Boyle would come in for the six-out save.

These two teams will battle for the weekend series tomorrow. First pitch is slated for 1 PM.
