INDIANAPOLIS – Butler outscored UIndy 22-6 in the third quarter to secure a 70-46 win on Saturday afternoon. The team's lone exhibition matchup of the preseason featured an 18-point performance from freshman
Tenley Dowell. The Morton, Ill. native only missed two shots in her Hinkle debut. She added four steals, three rebounds and two assists to her stat line.
Dowell and
Kristen Spolyar were the top two options offensively for Head Coach
Kurt Godlevske. Spolyar ended the day with 12 points, six steals and five rebounds.
A full complement of players saw court time on Saturday.
Oumou Toure led BU off the bench with eight points in just 10 minutes of action.
Shae Brey,
Katherine Strong and
Sarah Humphrey were all in the box score with seven points.
Butler outscored UIndy 19-7 in the first quarter and would lead by as many as 26 in the final stages of the fourth. Points in the paint favored the home team 40-20. The 'Dawgs also relied on their defense for 20 steals that resulted in 29 points.
The team will now shift their focus to Saturday, Nov. 9 when they host the Wagner Seahawks in the 2019-20 season opener. Tip-off is scheduled for 12 PM.
