@ButlerUWBB to Play Georgia and Ohio in Daytona Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS – Butler will spend Thanksgiving in Daytona Beach, Fla. this year as a participant in the 2019 Daytona Beach Invitational. BU will play Georgia on Friday and Ohio on Saturday. Each game will begin at 11 AM and stream on PassThaBall.com.
 
Bulldog Talk
- Genesis Parker and Kristen Spolyar have scored in double figures in all five games.
- Parker averaged 22.5 points, three boards and one steal vs. IUPUI and Ball State.
- Spolyar leads the BIG EAST in points per game (21.8) and ranks 13th in the NCAA.
- Spolyar has moved up to 19th on the BU all-time scoring list with 1,109 career points.

Scouting Georgia                                                                                                  
The Bulldogs are 4-2 this season after defeating South Carolina Upstate on Tuesday. Gabby Connally leads the team in the scoring column and center Jenna Staitl is the top rebounder on the team. Georgia is +10 in rebound margin this year. They have three players standing 5-10 or taller in the starting five. Head Coach Joni Taylor has posted four winning seasons at Georgia since taking over the program in 2015-16. Their best season came in 2017-18 with 26 wins and a trip to the NCAA Tournament.
 
Scouting Ohio                                                                                         
The Bobcats are 4-1 this year with wins over American (81-69), Marshall (67-51), Ohio State (74-68) and Incarnate Word (78-41). Their lone setback came in the season opener at Syracuse (66-54). Head Coach Bob Boldon led Ohio to a historic season in 2018-19. The Bobcats recorded 30 wins and reached the Round of Eight in the WNIT. Erica Johnson was named MAC Sixth Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year. Teammate Cece Hooks broke the single-season steals record at Ohio (112) and would be recognized as the MAC Defensive Player of the Year. This year, Johnson and Hooks rank 1-2 on the team in scoring average. Johnson is shooting 50 percent from the field and 48 percent from behind the arc. Hooks is impacting games on each side of the court. She is scoring 14 points a game and averaging three steals per contest.
 
All-Time Series                                                                                       
Friday will be the first meeting between Butler and Georgia. The Bulldogs are tied with Ohio in the all-time series (1-1). Ohio won the first meeting 84-53 in 2006-07. Butler won the rematch in 2007-08 by winning the season opener at Hinkle 59-58.
 
Parker Lands on BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll                                 
Genesis Parker was one of the BIG EAST's top scorers last week, averaging 22.5 points off .556 shooting. Butler went 1-1 on the week with Parker scoring 23 against IUPUI and 22 at Ball State, adding 3.0 rebounds.
 
Behind The Arc                                                                                      
Butler is shooting 39 percent from 3-point range this year (40-101). The have made at least seven 3-pointers in every game this season. Genesis Parker and Kristen Spolyar lead the 'Dawgs in made 3-point field goals. Parker has 13 on the year and Spolyar has 10. Each player has at least one make in all five games.
 
'Dawgs Playing Defense                                                                                     
Butler has 10 more blocks than their opponents in 2019 and 41 more steals. They rank second in the BIG EAST in defensive field goal percentage (36.0).
 
Top 5                                                                                                        
Genesis Parker, N'Dea Flye, Shae Brey, Kristen Spolyar and Emilia Sexton outscored Ball State 13-2 on Saturday over a span of four minutes.
 
Atosu to Make BU Debut                                                                                   
Upe Atosu will make her Butler debut this weekend at the Daytona Tournament. Atosu missed the first five games of the regular season due to a delayed enrollment penalty.
