St. John’s Defeats @ButlerUWBB 67-42

INDIANAPOLIS – The Red Storm notched a 67-42 win over Butler on New Year's Eve inside Hinkle Fieldhouse. Qadasha Hoppie led the Johnnies to victory with a game-high 24 points.

Hoppie hit six 3-pointers and ended the game making nine of her 12 total attempts against the Bulldogs. The only other St. John's player to hit double figures was Kadaja Bailey off the bench with 11.

Hoppie scored 11 of the first 14 points of the game for St. John's, including three of her first four from long range. Butler led for the first seven minutes of the contest, but a 6-1 run at the end of the first would give the visitors a 14-10 lead after 10 minutes.

St. John's led by seven at the half, but would blow the game wide open in the third, winning the frame 19-3. The Johnnies extended their 34-27 halftime advantage to 42-29 with an 8-0 run before the media timeout. That scoring spree would run to 15-0 which moved the scoreboard to 53-30.

All active players would see the court over the final 10 minutes. STJ would outscore BU 14-12 in the fourth to bring us to the final score of 67-42.
