INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler women's basketball team took a 72-42 loss to Georgetown on Friday night to move their overall record to 20-8. The Bulldogs will now shift their focus to Sunday for Senior Day against Villanova.
Kristen Spolyar and
Naira Caceres each scored nine points to lead Butler offensively. The Butler offense was out of sync against the Hoyas resulting in the lopsided result. BU shot just 29.4 percent from the field and 14.3 percent from 3-point land.
Dionna White paced the Hoyas with a game-high 23 points. Mikayla Venson (14) and Dorothy Adomako (11) joined her in double figures.
Georgetown jumped out to a 17-11 lead after the first quarter and a 7-0 Hoya scoring spree in the opening stages of the second would move the game to 24-11 before a Butler timeout. White and Venson combined for 24 points at the half as Georgetown led on the road 32-18.
A 16-2 scoring run in the third quarter allowed the Hoyas to extend their lead. The game would come to a close with Georgetown winning the fourth 17-12.
Butler's next game will come on Sunday, March 3 against Villanova. The game will serve as Senior Day for
