@ButlerWLacrosse Posts Second Win, Takes Down St. Bonaventure, 10-8


A four-goal effort from Karina Latsko helped push Butler to its second win of the season as the Bulldogs took down St. Bonaventure, 10-8. With the win, the Bulldogs move to 2-3 on the season.The Bonnies fall to 0-3.

The first half did not start out in the Bulldogs' favor as St. Bonaventure scored its first three goals over the span of two minutes. Butler called timeout which completely shifted the momentum of the game, as the Bulldogs scored seven goals over the next 28 minutes, and held St. Bonaventure scoreless.

Latsko began the 7-0 run for the Bulldogs, scoring her ninth goal of the season unassisted. The sophomore scored the next goal as well of an assist from KK Callaghan.

Holly Hall would tie the game up at three apiece with her fourth goal of the season. Ashely Steffes gave Butler the 4-3 lead with 21 minutes to play. From there, the Bonnies would not see a lead the rest of the game.

Callaghan, Layla Tattersfield, and Latsko had the final three goals for the Bulldogs in the second half to take a 7-3 advantage into the break.

Haley Hallenbeck got on the score sheet just 12 seconds into the second half off an assist from Sydney Pattison. St. Bonaventure did not go quietly as they used a 3-0 run to come within two of the Bulldogs. Latsko broke up the run, scoring with nine minutes left to play. Guerra added another goal to bring Butler's goal total to 10.

The Bonnies scored two late goals to cut the Bulldog lead to two, but the clock would expire with Butler leading 10-8.

Guerra posted two assists and a goal to go along with Latsko's four goals. Callaghan also notched a goal and an assist. In the cage, Amanda Rumsey made nine saves to earn her second win of the season.

Rylee Arnold led the Bonnie attack, scoring two goals with an assist. Destinee Johnson also added a goal and three helpers. Goalkeeper Savannah Clarke (0-3) made five saves in the loss.

The Bulldogs look to continue their success on Wednesday, March 6, hosting the Louisville Cardinals at 1 p.m.
