2019-20 Non-Conference Schedule

INDIANAPOLIS – Butler women's basketball head coach Kurt Godlevske unveiled the non-conference portion of the 2019-20 schedule today. The first half of the upcoming season includes eight home games at Hinkle Fieldhouse, one true road test at Ball State and a two-day tournament in Daytona.

The first chance for BU fans to see the new-look roster will be on Saturday, Nov. 2 when Butler hosts Indianapolis in exhibition action. The regular season opener will follow one week later against Wagner at 12 PM.

Butler has won two-straight season openers and are 3-2 all-time under Godlevske. As for their opponent, the Wagner Seahawks opened their 2018-19 season against another BIG EAST squad, taking a road loss at Seton Hall.

The first mid-week matchup will put BU up against Detroit Mercy on Wednesday, Nov. 13. The Bulldogs will end that weekend with a Sunday tilt vs. Eastern Kentucky.

BU and Detroit Mercy have not met on the hardwood since 2011-12 when each program was a member of the Horizon League. Those two programs have faced-off 61 times, dating back to 1984-85. Just four days later, BU will play Eastern Kentucky for the first time in program history.

A cross-town rivalry will be renewed with Butler hosting IUPUI on Wednesday, Nov. 20. The Jags were a WNIT team a year ago, posting a 20-12 overall record. In-state competition will continue that Saturday with Butler playing at Ball State on Nov. 23. BU and BSU have faced off each year during the non-conference season since Godlevske took over the program in 2014-15.

The end of November means Thanksgiving and Butler basketball this year. BU will compete in the Daytona Tournament from Nov. 29-30. Opponents and tip times will be available at a later date.

Before BIG EAST play begins, Butler will end the non-conference slate with four-straight home games. The 'Dawgs will host Akron on Dec. 8 then shift their focus to the Indiana Hoosiers on Wednesday, Dec. 11. IU played in the NCAA Tournament a year ago as a #10 seed. They upset #7 Texas 69-65 in the first round, but would fall 91-68 to #2 seed Oregon in round 2.

The final two tips of the non-con slate include High Point on Dec. 15 and Purdue Fort Wayne on Dec. 22. High Point made the 2019 WNIT Postseason field with a 22-9 overall record. PFW will return to the BU schedule for the first time since 2016-17.

The 'Dawgs are coming off a successful 2018-19 campaign that included a trip to the Sweet Sixteen of the WNIT. Season tickets are on sale now! Click here for additional ticket information or contact the Butler Athletics Ticket Office at (317) 940-DOGS.
