The Butler Twilight
The Butler men's cross country team will hit the starting line for the first time in 2019 on Friday August 30 at the Butler Twilight. The Bulldogs will compete against four area programs: IUPUI, Ball State, Marian and Wabash.

The Bulldogs claimed the top three places and the team title at the 2018 Butler Twilight.

Team Overview
Top runners from the 2018 roster that took third at the BIG EAST Cross Country Championships return this fall to make a run at the title.

Euan Makepeace, two-time All-Great Lakes Region and three-time All-BIG EAST, will look to add a championship in his senior campaign for the Bulldogs.

Makepeace had a standout 2018 season.  He finished 109^th at the Division I Cross Country Championships with a mark of 30:42.4, after running a 31:25.3 at the Great Lakes Regional to finish 13^th with All-Region honors. He also posted a time of 24:09.4, his career best 8K, at the prestigious Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invite.

Fellow upperclassman Barry Keane also enjoyed a successful 2018 campaign and 2019 summer competition. He earned All-BIG EAST accolades after top-ten finishes at the BIG EAST Championships as a freshman and sophomore.

Keane has also a two-time competitor in the European U23 Championships (2017 and 2019). In the 2019 race, he took ninth overall with a time of 29:01.57.

The Bulldogs have also added two graduate transfers in Simon Bedard and Matthew Wigelsworth.

Bedard is coming off a successful career at California Baptist where he helped CBU win its seventh-straight PacWest Cross Country Championship in 2017. He earned All-PacWest first team honors in 2017 and is a 2019 WAC Track Champion in the 10,000m.

Wigelsworth, a Liverpool, U.K. native, was the 2019 North Athletics Senior Champion in the 800m and 1500m. At the 2018 British University Indoor Championships, he placed fifth in the 1500m and sixth in the 800m.

Lascelles Hussey and Daniel Lawton will also add depth to the graduate student class.

2018 scorers Eric Baugh and Clark Otte will anchor the upperclassmen, along with Evan Johnson and Blake Roberts.

Other returners, including Trey Harris, Jackson Martin, Chandler McGaha, Nick Robie, James Sweeney, and Andrew Taylor, will vie for scoring positions on the team. The strong, primarily sophomore group returns with a year's experience at the collegiate level.

In addition the Bulldogs picked up seven freshmen, as Ryan Adkins, Nick Doud, Jesse Hamlin, Nate Lantz, Jacob McKenna, and Ethan Rouse join the Bulldogs this fall.
